Last week, we made it to the play-offs for basketball ... for the Wooden Spoon.
How did this happen? How did we get to this level of incompetency? Could try and make it sound less ghastly but clarifying that it was the Wooden Spoon for Division 1 and our team is akin to a bunch of midgets (or whatever the PC term is these days) running around in a forest full of Eucalyptus regnans. Yes every now and then we get smashed (blocked) by one of these tall trees.
However the reality is that we did not win one single game during the entire competition.
This is foreign territory.
Perhaps we have turned into those mommas that we so callously undermined back in those youthful days when tall trees weren't so much of an obstacle.
Oh the retribution ...

Foreign Territory, in caps, indeed! Shall I make a compilation of our infamous Wooden Spoon game to see how those trees smashed us little scrubs? It made for interesting viewing (thanks, Dougie!).
ReplyDeleteI love to see that determination in a team. Which is why I would have liked to see a win for you girls. I think moving down a few divisions and playing some more equal teams will further your mind from becoming that infamous mommas team. Play to enjoy yourself, and to get better. If the latter isn't happening, then 'f#$k it', just enjoy yourself. You might find something even better comes out of it. Dougie
